Worlds 2020

ART DIRECTOR
RIOT GAMES / GLOBAL ESPORTS

The League of Legends World Championship, or Worlds, is the most prestigious and widely-watched event in Esports, attracting over 100 million viewers worldwide.

For its 10th edition, we modernized and refreshed the aesthetics of the Worlds brand while preserving the event’s rich history. Inspired by the colors, architecture, and culture of Shanghai, we incorporated the electric energy of the host city into the brand with the year’s competitive theme, TAKE OVER.

As Senior Art Director, I established and oversaw the Worlds brand, and supervised all visual outputs across print, web, social, broadcast, set design, A/V, and live events.

Broadcast and Stage Design

We applied the bold and vibrant Worlds 2020 brand across all of our viewing experiences and debuted a refreshed broadcast package which includes the Champion Select interface and in-game viewing HUD. The player arena, shout-caster and analyst desk set designs were also integrated with the Worlds brand for a cohesive and visually striking experience.
